From the choice of innovative and certified materials, to the use of advanced technologies, Kartell is able to guarantee users of its products a collection in which technology, quality, resistance and durability are part of its DNA.
The company designs and manufactures a wide range of furniture and furnishings for various residential and commercial spaces. Kartell has expanded its horizons with new divisions and new product families, including a special collection for outdoors, as it continues to move with the times and evolve, also employing non-plastic materials and experimenting with new technologies.
We are thrilled to be adding Kartell's outdoor furniture, lighting and tableware collections to our Time Out Space brand portfolio.
Here are some of KARTELL's most interesting facts:
// the company was founded by Giulio Castelli in 1949
// since 1988 Kartell is run by Claudio Luti, who's background comes from the Versace fashion house, the company's President till this day
// Kartell collaborates with the world's top designers and architects like Philippe Starck, Ron Arad, Antonio Citterio, Ferruccio Laviani, Piero Lissoni, Patricia Urquiola, Mario Bellini, Alberto Meda and Vico Magistretti, who defined the brand we know today
// in 1999 Kartell became the first company in the world to use polycarbonate to produce completely transparent chairs and other furnishing items with modern, minimalist design
// La Marie, the first transparent chair, paved the way for Louis Ghost, still one of Kartell’s best sellers today.
The company developed and explored the theme of transparency that has made it unique and original, continuing its research into the study of surfaces and shapes, starting with the use of new technologies and high-performance materials that have made it possible to create products like nothing ever created before.
// Kartell owns its own museum, located within the factory at the gates of Milan, aiming to conserve, promote and enhance the company’s material and intangible cultural heritage. In 2000 it has obtained the Guggenheim Business and Culture Award for the best company museum. The display includes the most interesting materials linked to the design history, such as car accessories, household items, lamps, laboratory items, furniture and accessories and more.

KARTELL LOVES THE PLANET
Kartell loves the planet is the industrial manifesto with which Kartell intends to emphasise its commitment to sustainability and environmental friendliness. Passion for excellence, which has guided Kartell’s every move from the outset, has led the company to focus on environmental responsibility and good sustainability practices.
A Kartell product is a timeless product, which is produced with the utmost respect for the environment and destined - on completion of its function - to occupy museum spaces and join collectors’ assets. Kartell’s vocation is to create value: not simple objects, but pieces that can contribute towards building a cultural project; not objects that risk being cast aside when no longer used, but instead become treasured memories.
